Suzanne Klein here, your Freedom Initiator. From an elementary teacher to owning a 7 figure business, selling it, and now teaching you, how to do it too!
So, let’s jump right into our Make it Happen Monday! Today's video is all about valuing yourself and knowing your worth. Especially fitting as today, 99 years ago, women stood up and said, “we are worthy enough!” “We deserve better!”, and in 1920, the 19th Amendment passed, giving women the right to vote. What one self-worth belief did for those women then, is the same belief I live by now, living my 5 Freedoms Life in the Caribbean. Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing this one simple self-worth belief and 3 action steps you can take that will help you on your path to a 5 Freedoms Life too!
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It’s our unhelpful or untrue belief system that keeps us feeling stuck-- Oh, I can only be a teacher because that’s what I went to school for, or that’s who I am, or that’s all I know.
Or, because you're in the job now, you feel obligated to stay another 10, 20 or maybe even 30 years? I get it--a few years before I left teaching, I had those low self-worth tapes playing in my head too.
High self-worth is linked to almost every element involved in a happy and fulfilling life.
Today, I highlight just one self-worth belief you need to have, in less than a minute. Because understanding this one belief is a critical first step toward living your best life with confidence, and freedom.
I want you to become confident and love yourself for who you are and how far you've come, regardless of what anyone else thinks or says. You hold the power and you are the one who determines your worth! Once you master this one self-worth belief I’m about to share, you will be unstoppable and resilient in the pursuit of what you want in life!
Are you ready?
You hold the Power!
Self-power is the key to everything!
A simple belief...isn’t it so?
But, how do you put it into action?
It’s easier than you think.
Next, I offer 3 actionable steps to boost your self-worth so you can start creating the life you want!
First Action Step:
Stop shrinking--Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
When I was a teacher, I used to shrink when someone would give me a compliment about my students making great strides. I would downplay it or give someone else credit. Or, when I stayed quiet in the lounge because I didn’t want to take the attention away from another person. All examples of playing it small. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And the beauty of it is as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same! This is powerful stuff!
Action Step Number Two:
Stop comparing yourself to others.
This toxic behavior, constant attention to what others are doing can perpetuate these feelings of, “Oh everyone else has it better than me.” This inaccurate belief contributes to low self-worth. For me, because I’ve built 4 businesses including running a 7 figure business and then selling it, I don’t have much time to pay attention to what others are doing. However, where it did show up, was looking at other teachers’ test scores and judge my value, my worth on their test scores--I realize now, how ridiculous this is, but at the time it seemed so real. Everyone is living their own journey, stop comparing, as your journey will and should be different from theirs--your a different person, with different thoughts and a different way of being.
The Third Action Step:
Stop working for praise!
I remember, used to love doing my back to school bulletin boards! If people didn’t compliment my decor, it made me doubt my self-worth and question my ability. How crazy is this!
Your value comes from inside, from an internal measure that you’ve set for yourself. If you live your life as a praise junkie, at some point you’re going to hit rock bottom and crash. You should never expect from others what you can get from within.
Relating to my lowering self-worth beliefs? In the comments, write, “I can relate!” I would love to hear from you!
